How many people actually use AI to plan and book travel, and how fast that share is moving.

Adoption is the most measured and least agreed-upon number in this field. Published figures for 2025 and 2026 run from 18% to roughly 79%, and all of them are defensible, because they measure different things.

Three variables explain almost all of the spread. The first is the question wording: "have you ever used AI for a trip" produces a far larger number than "do you use generative AI to plan your travel". The second is the population: US panels report higher adoption than 33-market global samples. The third is the date — this is a series that moves several points a quarter, so a figure from early 2025 and one from spring 2026 are not comparable even when the wording matches.

Read the indicators below as a range rather than a point estimate. Where a source publishes the same question two years running, the year-on-year change is the more reliable signal.
